An Afternoon with Burness Paull

This is the perfect opportunity for our members to learn more about Burness Paull and make personal connections within the firm!
The Stirling University Law Society are delighted to share the details of our upcoming event with Society sponsor, Burness Paull LLP. This will take place on Wednesday 16th November, 3pm-5pm, in the firm's Edinburgh office. This will be open to SULS members only and you can register your attendance here.
What is this event?
As part of our sponsorship with top-tier, independent commercial law firm Burness Paull LLP, the firm will be hosting the Stirling University Law Society in their Edinburgh office. This event will involve a presentation from the graduate recruitment team on their application and interview processes, so this is an excellent opportunity for those looking to apply for a summer placement or traineeship with the firm in the future. Additionally, there will be a networking and Q&A session with current trainee solicitors who will be sharing their experiences with the firm's application process and summer vacation scheme (where applicable), as well as how they are finding their traineeship so far. This is a great chance to hear first-hand how current trainees secured their vacation scheme/training contract, as well as what life is like as a trainee solicitor at Burness Paull.
In addition to the presentations above, the firm will be providing food and drinks for attendees (we are hearing plenty of pizza will be on offer...) so this is the perfect opportunity to network one-to-one with Burness Paull employees and establish personal connections with those working at the firm.
Why should I attend?
As a law student at the University of Stirling, there are not many opportunities to visit a law firm and see what life is like from the inside. Furthermore, this is not just any law firm, this is one of Scotland's most successful commercial law firms, with a diverse range of highly skilled legal teams. Not many students during their time at university are invited into such a workplace, so this really is a unique opportunity for SULS members. This event could be really beneficial for you if you are interested in applying to Burness Paull in the future.
What do I need to know?
This event will be taking place on Wednesday 16th November, 3pm-5pm, in the firm's Edinburgh office. The SULS committee will be travelling through from Stirling via train at around 1:30pm. If you would like to join us, we will be meeting outside Stirling train station at 1pm, so you can meet us there and travel through with us. Further details on the exact train we will be getting will be shared nearer the time, so keep your eyes peeled for this as the event approaches.
Anyone who would like to make their own way there should ensure they are at Burness Paull's office by 2:45pm. All attendees should wait outside for the SULS committee to arrive to allow us all to go in together. The address is Exchange Plaza, 50 Lothian Road, Edinburgh, EH3 9WJ.
As we are visiting a law firm, we ask all attendees to dress appropriately for the occasion. We recommend an outfit which is smart but not too formal - a full suit is not required but joggers/tracksuits are too casual. Somewhere in the middle will be fine.
